Question Bigger oil pans

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a bigger oil pan? My 74 f250 has a 360 and I'm going make it a 390, was gonna go with a bigger oil pan and high volume pump along with the nice oiling mods recommended by Ratsmoker

Thanx guys.

The only thing bigger than stock that I have seen is the Milodon 7 qt for the FE. I have one on the way now, its considered a street/strip pan and is $180 from Summit. I have seen others bigger im sure I just don't remember were, and I think they were for circle track, but some one probably can correct me on that.

The Milodon may be too deep for 2wd trucks.

We've had this discussion, and unfortunately we have only found the old 9 qt big F Series pans. They stay the standard depth but all the way back. Aside from that, I think we decided you would have to make your own pan or notch the cross-member to fit some of the aftermarket pans like the Milodon or Canton.

I forgot to mention my f250 is a 4x4. Would this mean the milodon 7 qrt pan will fit?

I'm not sure on the 4x4. I think it will fit. Hopefully, one of the other guys will confirm.

The 4x4 originally came with a rear sump pan, right? If converting to a front sum, you'll want the appropriate pickup.

Even the 4x4 has the front crossmember under pan, right??

That means nothing deeper than STOCK will fit. A deeper REAR sump is a possibility.

I would check on getting the FT truck pan/pickup combination. I saw one on Ebay the other week for $50. MUCH cheaper than an aftermarket pan. You must fab a mount for the pickup tube, since it runs to the back. It will need support or it will break off from vibration.

and you will want to keep the rear sump pan on the 4x4 (or go with the big truck pan).

Thumbs up

Yeah.. I'll keep the rear sump.. I found an 8qt pan for 4x4 applications, rear sump, and is meant for FE 360-428 now I just have to take some measurements to see if everything will clear. Only catch is it's $269.. but I guess when you want results price has to take a back seat. I found the pan at Summit.

Keep you posted, thanx
