Holley 4180C Carburetor

My '85 F-250 351W HO has the stock Holley 4180C 4bbl carburetor (E5TE-ABA). From what I hear, this is simply an emmisions version of the 4160. If this is true, would it be safe to say I can use 4160 parts for it? What I mean is, would a 4160 rebuild kit work with it?

Does anyone know where I can get a good, cheap rebuild kit for my carb?

i dont think they made a cheap kit for the ford carb. last time i checked on 1 it was 90 bucks! i just bought a new holley carb for 150 bucks, and had a brand new carb with a warranty. course that has been a few years ago.

I just rebuilt my 4180 using an 4160 that my dad had just rebuilt acouple months ago. The reason I did not just use it was the throttle arm was wrong. the gaskets where diffrent. So I switched the float bowls they match up.the big diffrence is the base plate and main body they are very diffrent. 4180 has 4 corner idle screws. the 4160 has only 2 screws. I had to reuse several of the old gaskets they came off in one piece.

The internals are different. The Metering blocks are different as well as the passage of the accelerator pump. The gaskets won't interchange, you will need the correct 4180 kit.

Front fuel bowl assmbly for the 4180?

Does anybody know of a place where I might find a primary bowl assembly for this carb? At some point before I owned my 84 Mustang, the carb had a bad rebuild. Somebody stripped the threads out of the fuel bowl where the accelorator pump threads in. Helicoils, etc. ugly.

But its all original, so I'd rather save the carb before taking drastic measures...

usually if you search ebay for "holley 4180", you can find several whole carbs for $5-$15.
