Tire size change on '04 F-250 HD help!!

Hi there,

I'm from England and work for a company who imports and repairs a number of Ford Pickup trucks. I'm working on a new 04 f-250 HD and have spent the last few days changing the suspension to lower it. Unfortunately its not low enough and so my next plan is to downsize the tires. However i realise that this will make the speedometer incorrect so how can i get the speedometer recalibrated accordingly.

Thanks in advance,
Thomas.

You need a Superlift TruSpeed Speedometer Calibrator.
Here is a link to get you started. Shop around for best price....
It is about $165.00 USD

In many parts of the country, it is a very popular to do this, they do look unique when done.
With the chassis that low, it must have the ability to corner relatively well for a 7k truck.

The people in the UK tend to drive a lot faster than we do here in the states.
I can imagine that a lower center of gravity obtained from lowering the truck would come in handy when you are going over 90 MPH on the M1 or M25.

A Diablo should take care of that for you.

You can have the PCM reprogrammed by a dealer. You will need to have the tire revoluations per mile number, this gives the tech the value that is used for the calculation in the PCM.
It should not cost a great deal but you would need to research that in England.

1999-2004 Super Duty F-series / 2000-2004 Excursion - Speedometer Recalibration Service Tip
To Recalibrate The Speedometer On 1999-2004 Super Duty F-series And 2000-2004 Excursion Vehicles You Must Use Ngs (cannot Be Done With Wds). Program The Abs Module Using The Following Procedure: Select Service Bay Functions; Abs; Tire Size/axle Ratio Configure; Select Vehicle; Enter Correct Revs/mile And Axle Size; Select 'n/a' For Abs Option; Press Done. To Determine Correct Revs/mile For A Tire, Divide 63360 By The Actual Circumference Of The Tire In Inches. For Example, A 91 Inch Tire Circumference Would Equal 696. Then Add Two Zeroes In Front Of It (for Ngs) To Equal 00696, This Number Cannot Be Less Than 600. For Axle Size, Select Any Option Where Tone Ring Teeth Equals 00120
