Angry Leaking rear window

My back window leaks in 2 spots when it rains , the corner on the drivers side and the passanger side of the sliding window on my 99 F150 xlt. does anyone know how to take off the trim to the back window, and any ideas on how to fix it? I was just thinking of taking silcon calk to it. has this happened to anyone else?

It is very common. The plastic frame on the sliders crack. I had like most people the whole window replaced. I looked at the old one once it was out and the darn crack was big.

I have a 98 F-150 and the back window leaks when it rains also. I guess it just happens with Fords. I'm gonna try Silicon, it should be easy and do the job.

I tried that. The break is fairly large, on the down side the windshield leaks also on most of these. Only if parked in a noise down position from what i can fiq. Water gets to the fuse box and GEM

Im Not sure what shane7209 is talking about above, but the easy fix is to replace the window or have the window removed and resealed. Sometimes the window does not crack, just the gasket seal goes bad. I had my window replace for around $200 about a year ago. Im not sure how the widow and molding are going to look if there is silicon on it but it is worth a shot.

Had the same problem last fall with the slider in my 97. The frame had a crack in it. This is a common problem and Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on how to fix it. They also came up with a special gasket to go along with the TSB. I fixed mine myself with the special gasket and followed the instructions in the TSB. It wasn't that difficult. You have to remove the entire frame and reinstall it with the new gasket. Probably cost about $50.00. If I recall, the special gasket was around $40.00 from the dealer and a new butyl rope is around $10.00 at NAPA. The Ford gasket pretty much encapsulates the whole top of the window frame so unless the frame is cracked pretty bad the new gasket should do the trick. Mine hasn't leaked since.
