Well, Ford's SUCKS, we've had nothing but trouble with the ones we've installed, and they're expensive. I have yet to find a PERFECT one, but ProStart has given us the fewest problems.
Any system by Directed Electronics will be better than most out there. There web site is http://www.directed.com/
I have the Hornet 554T system in my Mustang and it works fine. The two-way remote is crap though. They have some new systems out now though that are even better. http://www.sounddomain.com has some really good discussions on auto security.
Attempted the Ford remote, but the '04 electronics doesn't quite correspond with the out of date remote starter module. Went with a unit by AutoPage and it works flawless. Has alot of options availible on it. I would reccomend this unit to anyone.
Remote starters and alarm systems are only as good as the installation.
I have remote starts on all my vehicles. AstroStart, CrimeStoppers, Viper, etc. All work very well. I prefer the AstroStart. Make sure the remote start you purchase is compatible with the encoded Ford key system.
