I just got the new viper 5704 alarm/remote start system. Has anyone installed one of these?? Is is hard? It says I need an authorized dealer to instal it to use the turbo timer is this true?? Any advise would help. Thanks.

I bought the Viper 5204 and had it installed for me with a couple of mercury switches. I wanted to have the lifetime installation warranty so I had them do it. It works great.

Good luck.

I haven't installed that particular system but I've installed two others; a DEI and an UNGO (clarion). All the systems are pretty much the same with regard to install. I wouldn't attempt to install unless you're mechanically/electrically inclined and have some experience installing mods on your car. The hardest part is identifying the correct wires to splice or cut. Ford has a bad habit of using the same colored wires within the same harness with the only differentiators being gauge. And trust me, a 20 gauge and 22 gauge wire looks the same when you're crammed under your dashboard with a flashlight.

Ok thanks for the reply. I did instal a system like this on my 150. It took me 8 hours. I might leave it up to the professionals on a big money truck like this.

Key Fob?

I've had a Viper or Clifford in all of my previous trucks. I don't have one on my 2012 F-250 and I really miss the longer distance remote start and the turbo run-down feature.

Do y'all have to carry another key fob along with the giant factory key? I guess I'm gonna need bigger pockets if so....

This is not something you install in your driveway without any experience.

When I was an Ops Manager for Circuit City, I had the Roadshop guys install professionally mine. Clean install and 4 years later, absolutely no problems....

Yea if you are confident go for it. I had the 5704 installed at bestbuy on my 6.7. It was not a cheap deal I think it was about $750 or so but I'm no electrical expert so it seemed the best option for me. I've always had Vipers installed at BB on all my trucks so far and I've had good luck with that lifetime warranty.

The worst part is you have to install a passlock box to bypass the chipped key for the remote start. I did it on my 08 6.4 it wasn't fun
