Replacement options for stock Bench Seat

I currently have a 1977 F250 Custom with the stock bench seat. Has anyone replaced their seat with something out of a new truck? What was required to do this? I am considering maybe a 60/40 out of a newer truck or maybe a bucket seat set. Just wanted to know what the options were.

Thanks!!!

There are a ton of threads on this topic here that can be found using the search function. All the info you could ever need. Some with installation pics etc.

I love the new leather 60/40 I put in my ride a few years ago - you can find them at <http://www.mistynewbeak.com/truck/seats/seats.html> ; included are electric fanny warmers and electric lumbar supports - I was able to get the entire setup for under $1,000.00 and includes the special frame adapter for 73-79 F-100's. Took about 45 minutes to complete...

Like Torque said, do a search - lots of reading. The easiest/cheapest swap is any F series bench seat (one piece bottom) up to '96. Just remove old seat, install old seat tracks onto new seat and install new seat - easy. I have a seat from a '91 F150 XLT, it's contoured like buckets, has a fold down center armrest and cost me $150 in perfect condition. Took 20 min to swap in.

You should be able to bolt any bench up to a 96 on your factory lower frame rail

A newer syle seat from '96 on down will work, just swap the earlier seat tracks on to the newer seat. They bolt right on. I just swapped out my stock bench for one from a '94 F150 with bucket syle backs and fold down armrest. Also has a removable cupholder tray that attaches in the middle of the seat over the tranny hump. Oh yeah, it also has power lumbar too, just twi wire hookup.

Seat cost me $100 from a u pull-it junkyard. Took some time to find a nice one but they're out there.

Good Luck!

I've run searches using Seats/New Seats/Custom Seats and Seats-Interior...and as usual, the search function has just not been set up well and spins you out into never-never land...if anybody has purchased aftermarket seats that they are happy with, please share that info...I'm willing to spend a good chunk of change in order to ride comfortably, most of my miles being highway, etc...thanks to all...EagleWalk

try "replacement seats" also, the search function just searches for words and is only as good as your imagination. Plus it will not find spelling errors.

Thanks to one and all

Just wanted to say thanks to all that responded!!! I will be looking for a replacement seat asap. The original is all hosed on the drivers side after 96000 miles and I would love to find a nice replacement for not so much cash. Nice to know that up through 96 will work. That should leave me plenty of options.

The link to the custom seats was cool too. There were some nice seat sets in there. A little more than I want to pay as this is a work truck. A nice set of 96 seats would be good though!!!
