Major Diff. In Lighting And F150???

I currently own an 87 Ranger (work truck), and an 87 mustang GT~
PICS ARE HERE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED~~
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...page_id=320213
anyhow, i was thinking of financing a newer Lightning, but i am starting to see that the supercharged SVT dream truck of mine, is possibly out of my price range! ALso, i would prefer an ext. cab vs. the standard!

My question is, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN the LIGHTNING and the F150?
I was thinking maybe it would be easier for me to just buy an F150 and Supercharge it w/ the eaton just like the lightning! What else would i need besides the supercharger to make a lightning replica?

thanx, but i was more interested in the NEWER Eaton powered Lightnings! I LOVE THE OLD ONES AND THE NEW ONES, but i want a blown work truck! Would it be cheaper to convert a 98-03 F150 to Lightning status vs. just buying a lightning? IE~buying a used 99 F-150 and slapping a KB on it?
Are there any induction differences? Computers different?
Lets just say, i could get my hands on a Lightning blower~ what else would i need to complete the conversion?

My work truck has a first gen Lightning motorand tran. If the truck didn't have a 8 foot bed I would not have even looked at it. I need a full bed to carry my tools and lumber.

may want to check out the 97+ forum, but as far as i know, it is basically just a differnt intake, the supercharger and intercooler, maybe different cams. the bottom end might also be built a bit better too.

allen engineering makes a kit that uses the same blower as the lightnings (eaton m90), maybe a different trim, its around $2500 or so and includes everything you need, even a chip iirc.

Did you happen to catch the truckstv when they did this to a newer f150 supercrew. I believe he bought a kit that included everything for this conversion. Oh yeah, the truck was 4x4. It was awesome. You might be able to find some info on the truckstv website.

i think it would cost way a lot to convert it to the lightning. first get a truck. then motor and tranny and computer. then body kit and exhaust. grill, hood and mirrors.

The bottom end is different in the 2nd gen lightnings. I'm not sure the exact differences, but I know that compression ratio is 8.5:1 which is lower than the regular F150's.

Yeah, i hear you~ i think it would cost almost the same as a lighting, but i could probably snag some better parts (like a Kb blower vs. the Eaton) and still save a little cash!
I could probably afford to finance an 1st gen Lightning, but i wanted something like the newer ones! Maybe ill just get a newer f150 ext. cab, and get a KB blower/exhaust/body kit and call it done! Its not like it wouldnt be quick anyhow!
