High idle bronco II 87

took to mechanic they say it is caused by either TSP or ERG as these are the error codes coming up on computer, what is tsp, and does it cause or need extensive work to repair, vacuum lines have been checked all intact.

A code 53 "Throttle position sensor (TPS) voltage is too high" would cause this. Go to Autozone/Napa/Pep boys & pickup an Actron CP 9087 (or similiar) sensor tester for about 30 bucks & hook it up to the TPS. You will know in about 30 seconds if the TPS is shot. VERY SIMPLE to test it & to replace it if it's bad. The sensor is about 35 bucks at Napa.

Buy the sensor tester, take a quick look at the manual that comes wth it for how to test the TPS & test it in the parking lot. If it tests bad, go back in the parts store & buy a new TPS. Installing it will take about 2 minutes.

Would you believe that when I took the Bronco back to the garage that replaced the engine they left the vapor canister disconnected from a vacuum source. This caused an idle around 1500 RPM. I brought the truck back to the garage and told them to hook the canister up where it belongs, now get this, they hooked the canister to the PCV valve. I could not believe this. The sticker under the hood shows that the evap canister goes to the Throttle Body. I fixed it and now it idles fine.
