My ford f150 , 1987, I went to put turn the key and it just amost go's completely around and doesn't make starter contact at all.. I need to replace it and I thought it was like the 70's gen motors where you could puch a pin in and turn and it pop's out ..But no! So how do I get it out to replace with new Ignition Cylinder and Key Assembly... Please email me direct please... Nicewileyinky@aol.com

There are many reasons this could happen. A broken actuater rod, screwed up key lock, or a bad switch. The key lock is the easiest to replace. Put the key in, turn to the on position, put a pin in the hole under where the key lock goes into the column and then pull the lock out. If this is not your problem, the switch is located on the top of the column under the dash. Its not hard to get to, just take the panels off, take the four bolts out that are holding the column up in the aluminum mount, take the nut off of the top of the plastic swithc and replace the switch. The hardest to replace would be the actuater rod. You have to take the steering wheel off, take the turn signal apparatus out, then take the linkage system apart and replace the actuater rod.
