I am looking for any info on the use of the factory tow package. perticularly the wiring of a trailer brake control unit and if a control unit is\was availabel from FORD.

 

When the truck was new, there should have been a plug with wires on it that came in a bag, normaly in the glove box, it would plug into a harness plug located under the center of the dash, it also would have instructions on how to wire up the trailer conector, and/or trailer brakes, using a controller. Advise what exactly you are trying to do, and what parts you have. I will try to talk you through it.

I saw this post and wanted to ask a related question. Where is the best place to wire in the trailer brakes for the controller? I used a plug in "T" adapter that came of the rear of the truck by the rear bumper for the lights and signals, but could not find anything back there for brake control.

 

If the truck didnt have factory trailer pkg, it wont have the 5wire harness..
