OK, don't think I've ever seen a copper colored contact grease, although GE used to make one called Versalube, that was a light purple & over time it would get sorta mustard colored, so who knows what was in there. Anyway consider cleaning it out good & pack it with some of the silicone grease & see how it goes.

well adding to this post it seems i have the loose fuse problem with this ranger the fuses are so loose a hard bump will make something quit. had windshield wipers come and go, the number 25 fuse which is the fuse for the gem unit loose and causing tranny and speedo troubles. had battery go dead while going down road because of fuse even though gauge said it was charging.... i have read in other post this seems common......

no tire size deal had nothing to do with this problem,,,,i am still dealing with this truck,,,,have got a used gem in it now(about 3 weeks ago) made a difference in how long it takes to go from limp mode to working now,,,(almost 2miles versus 20 miles) but as long as i keep engine running or start it up every little while it will run ok but if leave over night back to square one , no speedo, tranny shifts wrong,, limp mode,,,, i need some in the know to find out if this truck needs a abs control module,,,,when looking the other day for the relay behind the radio i noticed the abs module is not there,, the wireing harness is there but module is gone,,,,this truck has 4 wheel abs(sensors on both front wheels and sensor on pumpkin),,,is the abs module only for 2 wheel abs or is this module been removed from my truck??? any help please

http://www.fordrangerforum.com/elect...?highlight=gem

pictures of abs module in this thread,,, also the question of the battery saving relay might be my problem...

On a '99, the 4WABS module is located under the hood, driver's side. Are you talking about something else?

Have you checked all related 4WABS fuses? Looks like fuse #14 (10A), fuse #11 (7.5A) and fuse #9 (7.5A) are in the fuse box located in the cabin.

There are also two fuses #7 (30A) and fuse #3 (50A) associated with the 4WABS system that are in the fuse/relay box located under the hood.

The pics you linked to won't display unless the viewer is signed into the FRF forum. So I can't get a visual.

If your truck has RABS then the RABS module should be located behind the instrument panel.

If your truck has 4WABS then the 4WABS module is located under the hood.

Regarding the modules, your truck has (or should have) either one or the other, but not both.

adding to this it seems to be whole lot of my problem has been the fusible links from battery to the relay box under hood,,, chrisfix on youtube has vid of him working on his fusible links on his ranger and his ranger was doing the same thing like mine,,, speedo bouncing memeory reseting just turning the wipers on would make speedo go wild,,, i messed around with the wiring there at the same as chrisfix did and my cel went off tranny working right from start so we will see if that is what i need to focus on next,,,,
