1996 F-150 Torque converter shutter
On mine, I had a shudder at 40-45 mph. Tranny doc said get a new torque converter. Warrany company didn't suggest basic fluid replacement. They suggested all sort of other things to make the replacement cheaper but not anything as cheap as fluid replacement. As the warranty company was paying, I didn't care one wayor the other if it was fluid or the torque converter. But it seems to me that they would have taken the cheap way out if that was a realistic option.
I also had a tranny cooler installed and the rear oil seal done while they were in there.
I hope as the previous reply says, that you get away with fluid replacement.
How will they get the residual fluid out of the torque converter? Are they willing to back up their guess with a credit towards a new torque converter if they are wrong?
Good luck,
Greg
