Im with "torqued" i believe oil pressure issues. at low rpm the oil pressure falls too low to operate the cvt solenoids hence why changing them didnt help. these 3 valve engines need constant good oil pressure to operate properly.
as to the pump apparently the design was poor and the backing plate has too much flex or give and looses pressure. i just redone my entire front chain and tensioner assembly and installed a new melling pump.
I think i read somewhere if the oil pressure falls below 25 psi the solenoids do not operate properly.
