I don't want to ask, but have to

I need to know what vehicle (year, engine, F150 or 250, etc) to get the high pressure line from for a Saginaw P/S pump conversion. I have a 96 F150 with a straight 6. I got the Saginaw pump from the correct e-series van that also had the straight 6. I have seen threads where the poster "thinks" or is "pretty sure" that the hose I need is from a 1977 F250, but they don't say which engine that truck has - I assume another straight 6 - but don't know for sure.
The reason I don't want to ask the question is because I know that somewhere on the site, the answer is already there. But after spending 3 hours searching and using advanced search, my eyes and mind are starting to bug out. There are so many threads about this conversion, but I just can't seem to find the answer to my specific circumstance. I found threads that state the correct hose for different engines, or different models, but nothing for my specific circumstance. I apologize for another thread about this.

The 70s' F series model sag conversion is different from the 90s' E series conversion.

Just source the high pressure line from the particular E series van you got the pump from.

If I still have the original hose off an E series pump we snagged sometime back, I'll take a pic of the "steering box" end.

It (I know, ) SHOULD be the same (swivel, o-ring type) across the years/engines.

If someone has better, more positive info, I'll gladly deffer to that.

The 70's F series uses inverted flare fittings on both ends...........Not sure about any of the rest of them.....I just went thru the whole "finding the right hose" thing to hook up a Dodge Cummins pump to my stock '78 steering gear, Dodge used the "O" ring type fittings so it wans't looking good besides having someone crimp me up a custom hose. I ended up making my own fittings by brazing #6 Male JIC fittings to both the Ford and Dodge tubes then having a #6 hose with #6 JIC female fittings built.......The up side to the way I did it is if I ever blow a hose in Podunk Wyoming.....I can always find someone to build a #6 JIC hose, or If I blow one of my "adapter tube" fittings, I can buy the corresponding hose assembly and have someone cut it up and braze on another #6 male JIC......any one with a hacksaw and an oxy acetylene torch can do that for me.........The custom crimped hose assembly route could leave me setting for weeks, trying to round up all the correct pieces/parts and trying to find some place to put it all together......Just my 2 cents worth......which may be worth considering if you can't find something off the shelf that works.....

No 1970's/80's F100/350 or Bronco came w/a Saginaw P/S pump.

Saginaw P/S pump with 300: 1975/96 Econoline.

One other thing about the E series conversion, you must use the mounting bracket from the donor as well as the pulley.

The shaft on the Corporate II PS pump is not the same diameter as the E series Saginaw.

Also the bracket is specific to the E series pump face.

The bracket on your truck will not have this face:

The Saginaw that I converted mine to before Cardone ran out of them was ordered by their part #. It uses a smaller Ford specific pump shaft and a C shaped adapter that allows it to be bolted to & line up with Corporate II brackets & front dress.

NPD still offers a Saginaw for 78-79 100s'-350s' for what its worth.

Nothing is implied about its originality to a specific vehicle.

I just used the hoses (they were in surprisingly good shape) from the '96 E-Series 4.9 van where I got the pump and bracket from, it was exactly plug and play. I removed the old, leaky, whiney CII pump & bracket, and lines and installed the E-Series bracket, pump, and lines. Did a flush, of course. You'll love it. Might just be the best mod I've ever done on a vehicle...no joke.

Awesome info. The line from the donor Econoline was damaged, but I can get a new one at any parts store around here. I did save everything else from the donor - the bracket, even the bolts - so it should be an easy mod. Thanks for the replies gentlemen!!

Do you happen to have the part# for this?
