Buddy of mine is converting his truck from 2x4 to 4x4 and i have a bunch of parts i'm going to give to him.

I had a 1997 F250 5.8 4x4 that i parted out. I still have the transmission (E40D) and the transfer case from it (4407 T-case).

Visually the transfer cases look identical between that truck and my truck but i want to make sure i'm not overlooking something. Will they swap?

He also needs the transmission tailhousing. Will a gas 5.8 E40D tailhousing swap onto a 7.3 E40D 2wd transmission?

Yep, good to go. Ford used that same pattern for a while.

 

to swap that trans housing and output shaft the trans will require a complete teardown.

Yeah, I know that about the trans. Pulling it apart is way out of my league. Considering im shipping a front axle out to California along with everything else needed to make a 2x4 truck a 4x4 I'm just going to send him out the entire transmission as well.
