99 f250 superduty 5.4 engine rebuild help

I have a 99 f250 superduty 5.4L with 270K miles. It runs great but really weak due to high miles. The only issue is a blown head gasket. There are no ticks or clanking noises it is very quiet and smooth. I want to pull the motor and buy a kit for a basic rebuild and replace all gaskets and things of that nature. The kit includes freeze plugs, pistons and rings, timing chain kit, rod bearings, main bearings and oil pump also full gasket set. I do not have the budget to purchase a new motor and my question is would this rebuild be worth my time. Basicaly will it make my motor run strong again. Any input or comments are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

In short- yes.....but IMHO I would pull the heads 1st and mic/check the cylinders to see how far out-of-round they are....if less the .001, a hand operated cylinder re-groover will work just fine, if more than that, then its time to have a machine shop re-bore the block......

I planned on boring the heads and shaving the crank shaft over .020 because I imagine there will be wear. But of course just like you said I am going to pull those parts and see how worn they are and if boring the heads and shaving the crank are even necessary.
