I can take the scanner and get it to lock into 4 low, still no lights on the dash, but it does lock in, there for that should rule out bad shift motor, no problems on the wiring at the transfer case, I can use the scanner and check the switch, it shows it changing, so I think I've riled it down to the gem module, do you think I'm right, or do you know of something else I should check, is hate to replace it and it not be bed

I would not jump to the GEM without being sure and there several folks who know this system better than I do. I am hoping one or more of them will add their comments. I agree with what you have done so far.
So you can get 4 low, but not 4 high. My first thought is that sounds like a bad selector switch, but the question is why now. You did transmission work. Why would that effect your ESOF in terms of the switch or anything else really?

The only way I get 4low is using the scanner to put it there, it won't do it by the switch, the scanner will activate the transfer case motor, but yeah why this happened after I removed and installed the tranny is beyond me, I know it worked before hand because the tranny was so bad I had to use 4 low to get it in the garage, then it wouldn't come back out after I put the tranny back in, I had to manually unlock it
