?s about battery light coming on
I just got a 95 F250 ECLB with 7.3 and E4OD. I love the truck and plan to do several mods down the road but it is overall a great truck and runs and drives great. Previous owners took great care of it.
My problem is it has been kind of sprinkling/raining here the last couple days and my battery light on the dash has started coming on when i come to a stop, but then goes off immediately when i start accelerating, then starts to flicker and come back on when i come to stop again. I figured it was either the alternator not charging or for some reason it was running off of the battery. But i checked both batteries with a multi-meter and they both show 14.5v while its idling. I even turned on the lights, signals, radio, and heat all the way up and it still read 14.4v at both batteries. I started it several times throughout the day expecting the batteries to be dead but it doesn't seem to be draining them and I really cant figure out whats going on. The batteries arent brand new but arent that old either. Probably 3 years or so.
The only thing i can think of is it looks like the PO put some heavy gauge wire running from each negative post on each battery to one of the bolts on the top of the rad support on each side. Could this be a ground thing where i need to put ground straps and terminals? The wires are just wrapped around the terminal screws now. Any advice is appreciated
