Is this normal tranny shifting ...2012 Expedition

PLC well done sir! I too just bought a 2011 Nav for my wife. It has 69xxx miles on it. I want to do a front to back service on it. You have really helped on the tranny. So another question. What diff fluid did you use? Ours is 2 wheel drive. Thank you for all the info, I'm certain I will have more questions. Also thanks to the OP.

Rubber duck. I think the rear diff for you should be same as my 4x4. I used Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Syn. Rear Axle Lube.
Doublecheck your owner's manual on page 332. I attached a scan copy with all my Lincoln fluid specs.
As I summed up in my post. I think changing as many fluids on these trucks before 100K can greatly extend their life. When you get one like we did with already some miles on the clock, you want to do whatever you can to keep them running.
I got our Navi for my wife on our anniversary. Found out after I did that traditional gift for 11 year anniversary is steel.

RubberDuck:
If you have the auxiliary cooler in front of the radiator, the return is on the bottom passenger side. After I removed the spring clip, the rubber hose seemed "welded" on. The fittings on the cooler are ridged in a barbed pattern. It takes quite a bit of force to get the hose off. You may try getting a set of pliers or channel-locks and twist to break it free. Keep working it and you'll get if off. If you DON'T have the aux cooler and are disconnecting the radiator fittings you can use the trans cooler schematic I attached below.
When I did mine, I added a length of clear tubing to the cooler once you get the hose off. Run this into a gallon jug. You can only flush out about 3 quarts and then the trans pump will start to push air. Turn off car, refill trans pan, repeat. I think I did this twice and you'll see the fluid in the clear tubing start to turn bright cherry red.
I was surprised how much darker my fluid was too. You're smart to be changing the fluid. Anything you can do to get most of it out of the converter and cooling system will really help.

Your welcome. Do yourself a favor and consider changing fluid in rear diff, and if you have 4x4 the transfer case and front diff. If you can do the trans fluid, these others are much easier.
When I changed mine out at 55K miles, all xfer case and rear diff were dirty, and front diff was milky. I'm glad I changed them, and plan on doing again at 100K. My wife said the steering seemed better after I did the front diff.

So after triple checking i still sprayed ATF everywhere. I followed the diagram. Upper line is supposed to be return.
So, that line ran to the cooler line on the passenger side of the cooler. So, that's where I found the spring clamp that I hadn't found earlier. Removed line, ran line from cooler to bucket...... ATF shower. The other line comes out of the radiator, not really accessible. SO, took a chance and cut the soft line of that cooler line...(I don't recommend this, this isn't the correct way to do it.) However the purge went off without a problem. I used 16 quarts of Mercon LV to do the job. I would start the car and let it purge for about 10 sec once the fluid started flowing. Once I saw clean fluid, reassembled the cut hose with a barb fitting and hose clamps.
No real change in shifting, but I know the fluid is fresh, and new filter. So I've done what I can do. I did also change all other fluids front to back. So I'm happy.
I appreciate all the help on this gentlemen.

Nice job, Rubberduck.
I didn't have any problems with pressure in system when I did mine. Once you drop the pan, I don't see how the system can hold any pressure, when I opened my hose connections I could hear vacuum break and fluid draining back into the pan/my drain pan. Oh well you got it done!
Don't mean to tell you your business, but you may want to recheck trans fluid level at some point. Seemed like mine dropped after using it a week or so. Also, run it through all shifter positions in idle and give it 15-30 seconds in each PRNDL position to fill all the passages.
Your truck will thank you for all this new fluid with longer life!
