Has anyone experienced any problems with their transmition down shifting hard on their 04's? I've noticed it when turning into a driveway or street and then accelerating. It seems to shift hard from 3rd to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st. Now if your taking off from a still position it seems fine, just down shifting.
My 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition with the 5.4 V8 does the same exact thing, done it since new. I know of others that do it too. I don't think it's a problem really, mine shifts fine otherwise, and it shifts fine then too, just a little hard, no hesitation whatsoever, just hard. I've gotten used to it and people who ride with me don't even notice it and if I say something to them about it, they have to concentrate to hear it. I am picky so I hear every rattle and noise that most people wouldn't even think twice about.
Are u sure we aren't brothers...lol...i do the same thing, i will take a car to the shop and usually make a fool out of myself becasue they don't hear what i am trying to get them to listen to...lol...in that case i won't worry about it, inless it becomes a bigger problem.
Yes I think we are a lot alike. Like I said, my expedition has done that since I drove it off the lot and the dealer has driven it before and never mentioned anything. I think I am just picky. The shifting hasn't worsened any over the almost 19,000 miles I have driven it. I figured, if it were something wrong then the shifting would become worse and more abrupt but it has stayed steady and otherwise the tranny shifts smooth as can be even under hard passing acceleration. I love my 5.4, I can imagine how you love yours with 300 horses. Let me know if you have any other concerns.
