Transmission or transfer case leak

Transmission or transfer case leak
My 1999 f150 (4.2L v6) has a fluid leak that I think is due to a bad seal at both ends of the transfercase. I have read about the seal between the transmission and the transfer case going bad and the transmission pushing fluid into the transfercase then out the end seal by the drive shaft. My truck is a manual with an R2 transmission.
I am looking for some help with this issue because I don't know where the best place to start working on the project is. Also, if anyone has any info on the best brand of new seal (quality wise) that would also be very helpful.
Finally, is there a "band-aid" type fix that I can use to keep my truck healthy in the mean-time, before I commit to fixing everything.
Please be lengthy in responses! The more info, the better.
