1995 f350 7.3 eating up right rear tires need help
OK so I've got a 1995 a F3 50 crew cab long box 7.3 and when I bought the truck it's got 294,000 miles on it runs great but it also has a Banks Otto mind complete System on it with a TEE5 ship now I'm heating up right rear tires him it's obviously snowing in North Dakota right now so I'm having to drive around and for high with the hubs locked so I can get traction other than that I'll just sit there and spin I don't know if it's got too much power or what's going on but I did not put the system on the truck I bought it but any helpful comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you

Detroit Trutrac Differential, Helical Gear Limited Slip Differential - Vehicle - Eaton
This will help if you don't have Limited slip or a worn out one like I do

To the original poster, I agree it sounds like your limited slip is worn out or atleast change the gear oil in your differential and add the appropriate friction modifier. Since you mentioned locking the hub I must assume you have 4WD and it is extremely unlikely your rear diff is an open diff. More likely the friction modifier and gear oil is in desperate need of a change so the factory limited slip atleast has a chance of working. Even more likely is that it is just worn out. Either way the trutrac is a superior product and worth every penny.

An open rear diff seems counterintuitive on a 4WD to me. Course I am no guru nor genius either. I just assumed all 4WD came with a limited slip reared. It just makes so much more sense. I was pissed when I realized my 2WD had an open diff. Personally I can't wait to finally drop that truetrac in.

Nothing like that comes free. If it wasn't ordered with it, it didn't get it.
Open diffs do suck. Although I haven't had a problem with my 94, I do want lockers.

As for the auto industry i am fairly familiar, I am a Team Leader for a company that manufactures thermal/acoustical solutions for the automotive industry. When I was a much younger man I was in auto sales, so I am atleast remotely informed on the automotive industry.
