The numbers on the brown ones are....AA1816187C3/18703181031. My Google search showed that the brown ones are OEM injectors. The yellow ones...Alliant Power AP63800AA/80040071512 are new injectors. As soon as we get our newest problem fixed (oil leak at turbo pedestal and/or EBPV) then I am taking it to a different mechanic that swears to me he can do the tests that you (knottyrope) stated. I have done my research and I am switching to a new mechanic. My husband and I changed the glow plugs, valve cover gaskets and the under valve cover harnesses (all 4) this weekend hoping that was going to fix the stalling out, no power, hard start and engine miss....put everything back together and the only thing that seemed to change was it started better. Then we found the river of oil flowing out so now on to the next problem then we will move on to the injectors. Its been one thing after another with this truck
The bluetooth dongle won't do a contribution test that I am aware of. You could get AutoEnginuity and it will do anything you need.... all you have to do is get the kit and have a Windows laptop (Might work with mac too, I am not sure)
^^Yeah. And watch the base of the injector to see if there is oil coming from between the injector and the head, in which case you have a loose injector and/or blown o-rings.
And just to be clear, I am talking about the spout and Jared is talking about the base. Coming out of the spout is good, coming from the base is not good.
Also if your considering running the motor with the valve covers removed I would suggest if you can get your hands on a set of used valve covers do it. You can cut out the centers then bolt them on so oil doesnt go all over creation. I usually put rags over the ones I'm not checking.. Food for thought..
