Wrench in engine

I was changing the vct solenoid on the driver side and I dropped a 3-4" Allen wrench inside the hole. I tool the valve cover off and can't see much down inside. Its not to the right by the cams, I think it fell down in front by the timing chains but I can't see it caught on a chain or anywhere. I drained the oil and took the filter off and looked in the oil pan with a snake camera, no luck. I don't have that kind of money to have a shop to it, any advice on where it might be would be great thanks.

maybe try one of those telescopic tools with a magnet attached to one end and try to fish it out.

get a small earth magnet , attach a string (strong one) and GLUE it... go fishing. and tie the string to your finger.

only thing else is disassembly. try above first

Don't use a string and magnet you'll end up with 2 things down there. No way to get the snake cam down in where it went in ? If you can see it and can get one of those retrieval tools down also to grab it. If you can't get it your going to have to get it towed to a mechanic, don't start it with it in there or you could end up spending a real lot of money, yes I know this part is kind of obvious but some would try an drive to a mechanic. Some of those retrieval tools have magnets and claws to catch things, magnet on a string will go where it wants to not where you direct it.

I've used the flex long magnet on a stick a few times. It can really drive you insane because if you are lucky enough to snag the intended object the magnet will stick to something else on the way up and your prize will fall off. Over and over.....
