Remote door lock module?

I am looking for the location and or other info on the remote door lock module. Any one know where it is and what it looks like? I'm sure the wire harness has a plug fro it , I just need to find the parts.

I did fund the modules online. there are like 5 kinds or different codes. I imagine the different codes have to do with remote signals???

Never mind I found a write up and it turs out the wire harness is different. too much work and faster to add an aftermarket system.

I added the factory module to my '95 so that I could have a key fob and the keyless entry buttons on the door.

I use the buttons for entry a couple of times a week now that I have them.

If you aren't interested in the buttons, then you are correct that aftermarket is probably easier to install and will no doubt have much better range.

I guess to be fair to anyone else who finds this post with the same questions:

This is what the factory RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) module looks like. The large 5 digit number is the code for the buttons on the door.

This is where it is intalled by the factory in an OBS truck. Behind the pocket in the knee panel below the steering wheel.

This is all the wires released from the harness that I harvested from a 1995 Taurus to put in my truck.

This is a pic of the install. The module can barely be seen in the hole at the top of this pic.

This is a pic of the keypad buttons at night.

All due respect to alberta 7.3 at the .org for his easy to follow write up to do this.

Hello, do you know what the part number is for the keypad you used? I have not seen one with a chrome bezel.
Thank you, Tony

I am sorry but I don't have the part number for the keypad. I know the chrome keypad came off of a Lincoln. I have a pick n pull near me and I was able to walk around the cars until I found the right donors. I would guess somewhere from a 95 to 97 town car.

Good luck.
