I think you'll find any 2017 Demonstater trucks will be under-whelming with power if they followed the same HP/TQ restrictions that the 2015-16 have for the first 500 miles.
If the demonstrator has more than 500 on it, then you might feel something different.
All of this is on the supposition that Ford has followed the same plan for restricting power during preliminary break-in miles...

Good point as I am sure you are correct, however when I drive one I am looking more towards the ride and seating position as other have pointed out. I am sure it will feel stronger as more tq is more tq numbers are there. I am more than please with the power of my '15 its just awesome so more is great I just don't know why Ford would not have bumped the hp 5-10 more. Just find it odd they only increased the tq. Even knowing the additional tq is most likely a minor tweak in boost, timing or a combination of both.

My brother in laws has a '15 Duramax, its a nice truck but the power does not feel the same as my truck. I do really like the exterior of the '17 GM is very sleek however I cannot get past the interior, I find it extremely bland compared to Ford and the Ram.

The 2016+ GM trucks look killer to me.... I'm not a square-wheel-arch-phobic person....

The interior on my buddy's 2016 LTZ 3500 is pretty nice... He has every available option though...

Well, not so sure the GM leads the diesel pick up truck power category.

Its a nice bump up for GM no doubt, and about time. But 5hp is only noticeable on a dyno. And with the GM torque control/limitation, full hp is probably only available in certain rare instances.

The 2017 Ford has 925 ft lbs torque, compared with the lower number of 910 for the GM...

I find it kind of comical, as the Big 3 fight over who has the biggest baddest Diesel engine, increasing towing capacities. All the while the RV industry is finding ways to make their units lighter, or increasing the size until you will need an over-length/over-width permit to haul.
While not the largest out there, my Jayco weighs in at 12,500Lbs. dry (about 14,000+ loaded) and my 2016 F-350 hauls it without breaking even the slightest sweat.

What I would like to see is a "Fuel Economy" setting that decreases the power when not needed and increase fuel economy. (just my $.02)

When we need digital equipment to the 1/100th to separate capacity, speed, efficiencies, doesn't really matter anymore IMO. I'll be in no rush to change out my '16, in fact I plan to buy it out personally in a few years for heavy work and do something smaller as a DD with work. I'm a HP junkie, more than happy where the trucks are now, but I'd rather see the big three coming up with factory 9 second 1,000hp drag pack cars)

It sounds like the new dmax is only supposed to be torque limited in first unlike the 17 SRW Ford which is limited in 1-3. Sounds like they beefed up the Allison.

Competition is great!

I find when any manufacturer wants you to look at anything specific (like HP) it may be because they don't want you to look at something else.
For example, look at my spelling in all of my posts...not a single spelling error. Now you aren't looking to see if I'm 5'6" and 300 lbs. and have health problems because I told you to see how great my spelling is.

Misdirection is king in advertising.
