Duramax leads the Horsepower race
#3
This will be interesting. The Duramax has always performed very well in towing time tests up various grades, so this increase in horsepower and torque are going to really give Ford and Ram a run for their money.
I wonder what the increase in price will be. The GM trucks are, right now, quite a bit less expensive than the Ram and Ford when comparing sticker prices. Wonder if they will catch them up?

Whoopie-doo!!!!!! My 2016 with a measly 440HP/860TQ has pulled any of my loads up every grade I have went up in thw western half of these United States at the speed I have my cruise set!!!! Generally around 68 MPH
When any one of the big three will get ballsy enough to post a real warranty, like 100,000 miles bumper to bumper/ 250,000 miles powertrain.......
THEY will have my full and un-divided attention!!!! Those are the numbers that would impress me.......but I know, that will not stir up the testosterone!!!!

I believe they even give you a mini fan since they don't believe in rear AC vents. Also, you get a 12 Pack of candles, incase the wax coating on their frame comes off...

Good point. For my towing needs my old 6.0 had plenty of power. Just like with the F150's, I wouldn't mind a choice in diesel engines for my truck. Let me choose between todays technology in something like a 6.0 or 5.0 version with 350/600 and 21 mpg +/- or a 6.7 and I would go with the smaller engine. I don't tow 10,000+ so the extra power isn't needed in my case.

Personally, I'm fine with the whole "more is better" thing. It's not about need. I don't "need" my truck at all. I have it to pull an RV I also don't "need." Ownership for many of us is not a need in the first place but rather a want or a desire. And since I don't need the truck, I don't need my new one to have more power but I do want/desire it.

Look at the RV size in Rodney's signature. Over the past decade, as brakes have improved and more power is available, how great have modern RVs become. Looking forward to the first 500hp /1000 ft-lb rated truck. I kind of like what Dodge does, if you don't need all the power, they have a smaller diesel available and two stout gas engines available. I think Ford could do better on the gas side and maybe have a baby diesel for those that tow but don't need all the power.
A week back, I was visiting an RV dealer's lot and walked through a crazy large and expensive 5th wheel. I thought back to RVs from just 10 years back and thought how great the modern 5th wheels are. Plenty of head room and crazy wide when opened. Love it and know that without the power of our modern pick-ups, this RV would not exist. So bring on more power.
