I don't think there will be one for 2017 models. What is the need? GM just released its new engine, which will be around for quite some time. The Ford engine is -5HP and +15lb-ft. No need to change. I think Cummins will struggle to reach much past the 400HP mark with the I-6; but they could jump up to 950lb-ft. Big deal.

It is very hard to create additional HP or torque without sacrificing fuel economy and / or emissions. I know most people here have this notion in their head its as easy as pushing a couple of buttons...

I think Ford has made it known that being top dog in the HP and tq race, as well as towing numbers, is very important to them. They know that customers look at those numbers and can be swayed by that -5 hp.
Most of those customers are of the male persuasion, and us guys like shiny things, winning the numbers game with your GM and Ram buddies is a great big shiny thing.
so if Ford is going to offer a reflash that will give my truck another 5-10 hp, I'll be one of the first in line to get it.

What you say is true, but RAM was +40lb-ft on Ford for awhile until now and Ford did nothing until the new model.

I would agree to a point. Correct me if I'm wrong the 900TQ Cummins was only available in the 3500 dually. So technically Ford was still able to claim "best in class". Now that is not possible as the GM has higher HP numbers for both the 2500 and 3500. If Ram comes out with high TQ #'s I would think Ford would up the power shortly there after.

Any 3500 RAM gets the 900 engine, not just duallys.

5HP ain't much plus it's down on torque. It RAM goes big on torque, Ford will probably respond.

Ram can publish whatever phony numbers they like, the computer doesn't let the owner put that power to the wheels. My brothers 2015 Ram 3500 diesel was gutless. Dead pedal off the line, gutless and slow in passing, gutless it just about any situation. We both just purchased 2017 6.7L diesel super duty trucks, the difference in power is night and day.

I don't disagree, but the argument was that "numbers sell."

Ford might come out with a "reflash" to bump it up 10hp but who actually knows if it really adds power to it cause in a 7k pound truck you wont feel a 10hp increase.

The 6.7L already has enough power to move my F350 as fast or faster than any light duty V8 gas truck I have owned, Ford F150 or Ram 1500. I was really surprised after driving my brothers gutless Ram 3500 and Nissan HD diesel. The F350 has no dead pedal, its quick off the line, quick at any speed just step on the pedal and she goes and WILL break the tires loose. An aggressive push on the pedal is better than flooring it, I think the computer kicks in if you floor it to ease the power on. I personally would not notice a marginal increase in HP or torque vs how well its tuned now, if anything I'd tell Ford to leave it alone to avoid screwing it up.

i think they had it where you had to get the aisin transmission to get that tq rating.
Kind of odd though, why not just offer the Aisin in every truck?
although, now that it is being uncovered that they were volkswagoning their emissions systems who knows what to believe with them.

You are correct. A person has to pay to upgrade to the aisin tranny to get the higher torque, hp, and tow rating.

No, a g-56 manual is around 650 tq, a 68rfe auto is 850 tq, and the h.o. with aisin is 900 tq. I've got a 3500 dually with 68rfe, and its 850 tq.
