Vin decoder/Carfax don't match truck?
I have a green 4.9L/E4OD regular cab long bed truck that has been in my family since new, I inherited it about a year ago. I was with my uncle when he bought the truck new at a dealer in PA.
I ran the Vin on the decoder here and then on a couple of online vehicle history sites and it says the vehicle is a 4.9L flareside shortbed with a 116.8 wheelbase. The truck is a styleside 113" wb.
The truck has never been hit, never modified. The dash plate matches the door sticker, I have the original dealer contract from when it was new, the Vin matches the truck.
I've had it registered in my name for a couple years now, before that it was registered to the original owner and then his brother for a bit.
The white Vin lable in the drivers door jamb has the correct VIN and states the correct wb yet when I run the VIN is says its a shortbed stepside,
The Ford dealer here got the same results and are clueless as to how or why.
Has anyone else ever seen a discrepancy like this when checking a vin?

Should be 133" wheelbase since no truck of any year has a 113" wheelbase.
The white VIN (Certification) Label on the drivers door jamb has the correct VIN and states the correct wb, yet when I run the VIN is says its a shortbed stepside.
Impossible.

Impossible.
The wheelbase is not within the VIN, it's printed separately on the label.
Post the VIN, all the codes printed on the Certification Label, and I'll decode all of it.

The VIN is 1FTEF15Y9PNA7**** I attached a pic of the door jamb decal.
Everything looks original, the cab is original paint as far as I can tell, the hood and left rear appear to have been repainted. It looks like they replaced the hood and grill, and the rear wheel lips have had rust repair done that's failed again.
This is actually one of 4 of these I bought, all are identical and all but one is sequentially numbered. (I think these belonged to a local municipality at one point).
All are identical, 4.9L E4OD 4x2 XL package long bed trucks in deep jewel green with gray bare bones interiors with A/C as the only option.
The VIN decoder online shows the following, as did the parts guy at the dealership yesterday,
1993 Ford F-150 Flareside 117" WB
VIN: 1FTEF15Y9PNA7xxxx
I'm a regular there and the first thing he said was he was surprised to see me with a shortbed, let alone a stepside, but when I told him its a long bed he scratched his head and said someone must of been swapping cabs around or something? But that don't explain why the door jamb sticker says 133 wheelbase.

All that a VIN can tell you is what I listed below:
1FT = Ford Motor Co. USA
E = Hydraolic Brake System Class E, 6,001-8,000 pounds
F15 = Regular Cab, F-series, F150, 4x2, Pickup Truck
Y = 4.9L/300 I6, Gasoline, Engine Mfg Ford
9 = Check Digit For All Vehicles
P = Year of truck 1993
N = Assembly Plant Code, Norfolk, Norfolk Virginia
A7**** = Production Sequence Number Positions12-17
From the decal you have a E4OD transmission with a 3800 pound axle with a ratio of 3.08.

Certification Label: 133" Wheelbase (which would be a Styleside).
BODY Code BJ4: 4 = Regular Cab with STYLESIDE Pickup Box.
If it was a Flareside, the BODY code would be BJ3: 3 = Regular Cab with Flareside pickup box.

For some reason, Carfax, and three other online decoders all call this a 1993 117" wb flareside. I did stop and look a a 1993 step side regular cab today and its 5-7 digits were F14, one with a supercab stepside bed showed an X15 in that position with the rest of the numbers being similar, (1FTEX14N9RNA8XXXX). That one had a 5.0L with a supercab and a 139 wb.
When I run that number on the online decoder it comes back correct.
I just wanted to make sure this truck was what I though it was not something pieced together. Not that it matters much after 214k but its nice to know what I've got.
When the Ford counter guy came at me with the shortbed description, I went online to check the vin and got the same info he got. I can't say why or where he got it from unless they use the same software that's online? My experience with Ford parts was back when you chose a microfiche card from the box and looked it up the old fashioned way, if there wasn't a card, we went to a rack of books. If the info was wrong chances are you misread it and it was your own fault. The last year I was at the dealership was 1988, the most modern thing we had was the new at the time Oasis system which ran on an old Texas Instruments data terminal. It took them about a year to get it up and running when it first arrived. Oasis at that time was leaps and bounds above the old way but it was often unavailable or just too slow in the early days.
