That would be fine, but where does your battery ground cable go? It should go to the engine block. So it would be better to go from the block to the cab, and block to frame.

AWG 4 copper stranded would be preferred. AWG 2 welding cable would be perfect because of it's flexibility.

I assume he's not asking about the main battery cable, just the grounds from the block to frame and cab. 35 amps doesn't need more than #10 at most.

Or is this 6v? Even so...

On my truck the OEM flat braided strap from chassis to cab and engine to chassis is just slightly smaller (I think)than an uninsulated battery ground strap. Maybe they just did this for inventory reasons? It's probably good for 100+ amps.

Mixer Man nailed it. Flat braided is the way to go. The more the better.

I think the flat braided may also help with static spikes if he has a radio. Yeah, it's really hard to beat free, but personally I would opt for the flat braid, even over the welding cable, for it's flexibility and ease of installation. Unless it's too too pricey.

I found a 19" braided cable at custombatterycable.com. They come in 2 and 4 gauge and in 7,9,11,14,16,19,24 and 27 inch lengths.
