Satellite radio

Hi guys! First time posting in here. I'm a Super Duty and Excursion guy. My company truck is a 2015 F150. I have a stand alone satellite radio with magnetic antenna. Obviously, that doesn't work with aluminum. I'm curious what you guys do for an antenna. Where it's a company truck, I can't hack it up too much. I've considered buying the trucker style XM antenna but I don't know where I could mount it because the truck has a tonneau cover.

There might be a way to attach the antenna to a window. Either slanted on the windshield or vertical on the rear window. Running the cable would be another story.

This may not appeal to you but just an idea. Find a thin piece of metal and trim it to approximate size of antenna base. Then use double sided tape or an adhesive of your choice. You said its a work truck so these are my thoughts. Best of luck.

Have you tried simply throwing the antenna in the front dash area? I've done this before and it works better than you might expect.

I find that satellite radio too unreliable with the standard antenna. Too many trees = it drops out all the time. Good old AM/FM doesn't do that.

My work truck works fine with just double sided tape on the base of the ant.

Let us know what you did to mount the antenna. I have a Wilson 100 cb antenna that I've used for years on my 02 tundra. Wilson makes a metal plate with a hole in it. I'm thinking double sided tape could do the job. I do not want to ruin the paint finish from using adhesive tho.

Hell, maybe it's time to look into some nice 2 way radios for our family road trips. It's only 3 cars I wanna talk to anyway. My dad and my little bro. We caravan to vacation spots.
