Anyone have satellite radio in your trucks? Whats better XM or Sirius? What kind of antenna are you using? Magnet, Window? Santa said I will be getting a Sony DRN-XM01R2.... Anyone have one?
I plan on installing the Delphi XM unit. I am very happy with it in my home and boombox. Will install it in my F-350 and 5th wheel camper too -- and move the control unit from home to truck to camper to boombox.
I have XM in my truck. I've used it on several trips and it worked great. I also use it daily around town with no problems. I have the Delphi radio with a mag mount antenna. I also have the boom box. I can use that at home or bring it with me in the trailer and have access to the my favorite radio programs all the time.
I have a couple of friends who are engineers at XM and we've discussed the architecture of the XM system versus Sirius. That was one of the reasons I ended up going with XM, I think that it is a better engineered system. But in reality, everyone that I've talked to with Sirius has also had great luck with that system too.
In the end, I think that it will come down to who has the better programming and subscription rates, and who has the most success getting people to take the factory install option of a satellite radio on their new vehicle.
I have XM in my car, truck, jeep, home, and wifes car. Needless to say I love it. I went with XM because when I got my first one thats what they offered. My brother has sirius and I like it, its good too. Sirius seems to be more sports oriented but I think you will be happy with either one. I haven't listened to an FM station in months.
XM all the way. Many new cars come with it (as an option), and several manufacturers such as Honda and GM have invested in them. I think Sirius is seriously doomed.
I just got a Kenwood HU with Sirius and I'm waiting on my antanna to come in so I can hook it up. If you are replacing your Head Unit and go to a Kenwood Dealer they will give you the tuner free. I think this is going on for a few more days. Check Crutchfield.com for details.
I run the XM through my Alpine Head Unit using the Glass mount antenna on the truck. I also have a Delphi unit in the boat and my wife uses the new Roady in her car with the Mag. antenna. I wouldnt leave home without it...
XM is well worth the $10 a month if you have a nice stereo you want to show off and are to cheap to buy tons of cd's. My 77 k5 blazer has two kicker 10's @ 300 watts ea., 2 pair polk gxr 6x9's one pair polk gxr 4" mid's with a blaupunkt head unit. I never listen to anything BUT XM.
Hi guys, I own an electronics store, and sell both xm & sirrus. most people by the xm ,xm has, as of jan 04 over 1.2 million customers ,sirrus 250 thousand, the race was on to see who got to market first ,xm won by approx a year . sirrus has had financial problems since, causing them to raise there fee by 3 dollars month, in the sound quality department ,testing was done by an independent company ,that both agreed on , xm came out better in the test , but they both are good.
