need help with intake and exuast manifold?

need help with intake and exuast manifold?

my question is i need a lote of work done on my 79 f100 with a 4.9 300 i6. is ther just one gasket for the intake and exoust manafold.so i need to have a exaust leak fixed on my truck
the gasket is blown do they need to remove the intake manafold off to put a new gasket on the exuast manafold?and should i replace my old exuast manifold with a efi manfold?
and what exuast manafold should i replace it with? my plane is to replace my intake with a new one with a new carberator. i am just stuck on which carb i should replace it with.

Hello Viperfoxbat,

This question has been discussed more times on this forum than any other, so there is a wealth of information on it. Have you used the search feature? There should be hundreds of threads that discuss this and plenty of information for you to go on.

As for the gasket, yes, it is generally a single gasket that is used for both the intake and the exhaust.

Some gaskets are laminated, with an additional layer over the intakes (?), but are a one-piece assembly.

I like the Mr. Gasket #260. Soak it in water a bit before installation to take out some of the brittleness.

I actually got to this thread by searching the forum. I've also found it rather difficult to find what I am looking for. This forum could really use a wiki, where all info could be organized and easy to find.
