Both Calipers or Just the Bad one ?

2006 250SD 4x4 only 79k miles

Had the lower piston on the right front caliper freeze on the way home. Fortunately, I wasn't too far from home so it didn't eat the pad down to the metal.
SO, Should I replace both calipers or just the bad one. Of course I will replace all the front pads...

If you choose not to replace the functioning caliper you should at least rebuild it.

Just replace the bad one and keep on trucking. I would not worry about rebuilding it. Possibly cause more problems than fix by rebuilding.

I had my right rear caliper freeze and replaced it. Noticed it after I stopped truck and could smell it right away stepping out of truck. Just replaced that one but 6 months later the left rear did the same. Could have just been coincidence but who knows. By the way, when you replace the caliper it is recommended you replace the soft brake line that attaches to the caliper too.

Yep, that's what I did after my right side locked up. Just replaced the bad and keep trucking.

On the Fronts.. it is Always a good idea to replace both...

both started with the same mileage. or other one CAN go bad Soon.

and second... the old own could be dragging slightly... and can cause one side to PULL under hard braking.... NOT even pressure .. one new, one NOT>

besides,, you need to bleed the brakes,, will the other bleeders move.. not rusted in place.

*** check the rubber brake hoses Closely *** 10 years old.. may start cracking.

Yes, I have been doing brakes before Disc Brakes became common on cars/trucks.

Thanks guys. I will be doing both. My son works at NAPA so the parts are....less expensive . For the price it's a no-brainer.
