'97 E350 Club Wagon 4x4 cummins conversion
Hello all, new to the site and looking for any good info and insight into my current project. I have a 1997 E350 Club Wagon Chateau ( Quigley 4x4 ). I am currently ditching the original V10 with the BLACK HOLE! for a gas tank, LOL, and swapping in a mid 90's cummins 12v with a 5R110W strapped behind it. Its been a fun project but very trying when it comes to parts and usable info. I have had to make most things for it from scratch and everything is pretty much custom.
I am particularly interested in any info I can get towards the transmission controller. I am currently looking at the PCS controller as the operating system for it but have also heard that you can use the factory box as well. what are the pros and cons to either option. I know, I have heard all the usual statements about how hard it can be to tune so save me those lectures please. I've already committed myself to this trans and I am determined to stick with it. Because its 4x4, the transfer case is electronic where my original was manual. Can anyone tell me if this will work through the PCS module or even the factory box.
Also I currently have 4.10 gears in it with 285/75R16 tires, does anyone know roughly what RPM's it'll be turning with this drivetrain setup at certain speeds. Just wondering if I will definitely need to change gears or go with a larger tire.

Your 5th gear is .71 so, and that size tire looks to run almost 33", so we will go with 32.5" for this here calculation:
33 MPH per 1000 RPM
60 = 1805 RPM
70 = 2107
80 = 2408
Downshift to 4th at 1:1:
24 MPH per 1000 RPM
60 = 2543
70 = 2967
80 = 3391
Rounding error is probably 2 MPH +/-

So I was thinking the contraption on the trailer was for a second story suburban peeper---good to know its only a swamp buggy! You need a separate thread on that just by itself.
No lectures about integrating the Cummins into the chassis and running gear but on another site there is an extensive long term project doing this same thing----the creator is a modern day genius IMHO. The scope of his project is overwhelming---check it out: 6.7L Cummins conversion project - Sportsmobile Forum. Its a bit of a long read but very interesting at the same time.
He might be open to answering a few questions---seems to be a generous guy.

Thanks for all the input guys, every little bit helps. I'm actually pretty far into the project, I'll post more pics as I can for anyone that's interested. As for the gear ratios, I would rather not change the gears and would prefer to up on the tires to compensate instead. Ideally I think i'd like to be somewhere close to 2k rpm at 75-80. Any chance you could tell me what size tire that might take with that 4.10 gear to accomplish it.
