Question before rebuilding Steering Column

Question before rebuilding Steering Column
Hello All,
My 1966 2WD shift lever 3-speed column housing broke inside resulting in a loose shift lever. So I am getting ready to pull the steering wheel off, yank the tube, and replace all wear parts, etc. You guys know the drill!
However, one thing has me confused based on the pics below is what length the shaft is, or if the upper part above the rag joint is replaceable or what... I'm not sure if that upper flange part can be pressed on and off, or if that shaft slides into the shift tube, or what?
Can you please have a look and let me know my options and part(s) needed? The wear will be obvious to see. I'm okay on all other parts in rebuilding the column.
Thanks!

My 1966 2WD shift lever 3-speed column shift collar broke inside resulting in a loose shift lever. So I am getting ready to pull the steering wheel off, yank the tube, and replace all wear parts, etc.

It doesn't make any difference what the length is, it has nothing to do with the parts required.
Or if the upper part above the rag joint is replaceable or what. I'm not sure if that upper flange part can be pressed on and off, or if that shaft slides into the shift tube, or what?
The lower flange located above the steering coupler (3A525) is made as part of the steering shaft (3524). See parts catalog pic.

Take away the prefix and suffix from the part number and you'll get the basic part number that are shown in Ford parts catalog pics. Example: Bearings are shown as 3517.

Thanks, ND (Bill),
So you can identify which is the proper rag joint for me, the last six of the VIN are: 877095
On the shaft and flange - I get it now, from your info and looking at the illustration, and can find all needed parts, except....
It looks like I will need to find 3524 (with both the flange and the steering shaft), as the flange on mine is too worn. Any ideas where to get? Pics of parts I've googled are only showing the shaft!

When I know, I'll edit the part number and availability into post 2.

Portland Swap Meet Homepage Every April. Yes, I have been a few times and it is huge. Crowded, too. Not gone since 2013. The only downside is the time of year they hold it is usually pretty cold, windy, and damp to wet.
The fellow I went with forgot to make motel reservations, and there was nothing available, even at the big buck downtown hotels.
We ended up sleeping in the rental car that night. Not pleasant!
At the swap meet I ran into a friend (customer - I was in the obsolete parts biz back then as a side line) that lived nearby, stayed at his place for the duration.
