I dont fully understand what I am looking at. Decent lowend torque and highend horsepower?

When I was slopping it around in my head, I figured a better highway cruiser at 65 than an off the line terror.

I dont have any proper type of measuring tool, but I compared the piston deck to center of wrist pin on both pistons, new and old. With a tape measure, the new ones are 1/16" thicker. Would that make any difference? The machinist also said that the new pistons were higher compression compared to the old, based on the dish. He said if it was really important to me, I can pay him to measure it.

the pistons you got , looked just like mine so in a 390 you will be very close to 10:1
I can tell you my truck has all the power I could need with descent freeway cruising .

Hey man, if I stumbled onto 10:1 by using craigslist and junkyard stuff, that would be pretty cool.

I finally made it to the machine shop. Looks like my block needs to be rebored. The machinist said that I could probably run it as it is to be able to use the .040 pistons that I already bought on the cheap, what do you all think?

The crank turned out nice though.

Little bit of ring shadow at the top but the lower part looks good, I've put together a few like that on budget builds.

Nice replacement cam, 500+lbs torque from 2000 to 4000 rpm and decent hp, should work good in a pickup.
