That is not a downer, but I hope she gets a degree in something that pays well and she can support her old dad in his dotage, and his truck hobby.

I think you said you had a 360 coming out, a 390 crank is a very good option and you you can make a pretty decent mill on a 390.

Lol, yeah, I am going to expect a nice return from her degree later, lol.

I measured the stroke, it is fact a 390. Since the vin says it is a 360, I will look at the crank and if it looks good, will run it as is. It wasnt running all that bad, considering the piston corrosion.

I am more excited about having an engine that doesnt drip a drop.

I hear you on not dripping. If you look at the 410 I pulled, I had bought it as it was, and it was an oily mess. Hated looking at the driveway.

Yeah, it is going to just be nice for you to jump in, and go get a gallon of milk. Next truck show you go to, you will be happy to prop your hood open! Knowing that someone is looking at your truck to get excited about their own, has got to leave you satisfied.

sweet deal for $50.00 so are you going to have block bored to .040 ? double check the compression height is correct .( center of pin to top of piston) as there are many different heights for 360/390

My bore is .040. I dont see any grooving.

Thanks for the heads up on checking height, I had no idea. Where should the top of my existing piston be right now? From memory, mine is about 1/16 from the deck at tdc.

I just looked at pics of Old pistons /new Your old ones have the extra dish to lower compression . So I think you are stuck changing all 8 as a set to keep compression the same .

From the B-173 on the piston skirt, those appear to be Badger 360 pistons, using Google.

There has been a lot of talk around here about using 360 pistons in a 390, and that they would be a good way to bump the compression a bit over using stock low-compression 390 pistons without going to what amounts to higher-priced aftermarket options.

I think the compression comes up to 9.5 or so?

Can someone with more time than me do the calculations?

Do I used the stock gasket for the Streetmaster 390 intake? And stock gasket for Hooker headers?

Nevermind, I figured it out
