oil filter base 5.4 rear

Well have a 5.4 2004 early, as registered as 03. The oil filter base is in left rear position on block. It seams to be leaking out just above filter seal. This truck was a factory starch plant truck so its all corroded don't want to remove to fix. Shure it would not survive. Is there a gasket under the tin shield and can you just leave off shield. As I said its a town bomber to dump and back.
Also there is a electric buzz sound in cab when and after running engine and every once in a while out of the blue. Is there a power up relay for ecm that would make this sound I know its not normal. Will drive you crazy if you have to drive any distance across town never stops. Not a solid buzz its like on off on.
Just starting to fix so its useable. Have to replace rear left spring also. Will never look good beat up bad.
its a f-250 8501-9000lb gvwr vin says a 04 the sticker in door says 8-03 mfd.

Glad to hear you found the problem, just confused with the part being a "cooler"?
Many threads here about a pretty common leak just above the oil filter on the 5.4's and maybe that's what you're talking about.
Could the buzz be the electric motor for the air ride suspension?

Pretty sure the part above the filter is the oil cooler.

Got it. Thinking he might be leaking coolant instead and a bit confused.
Thanks.

no its leaking oil.... think the piece is supposed to be crimped together but has let go and rubbed a hole just above the filter. Don't know why its not leaking antifreeze. Not removing to fix till new part shows up.
