Are you sure that it is actually coming from around the seal of the filter to oil cooler flange? I fixed a truck with a pinhole in the top of the oil cooler housing, and it required removal and replacing the oil cooler, particularly the rear header. It looked like the filter was leaking, because you cannot see the top of the header, and it ran down the back, down the edge of the filter and onto the ground.
