wobble of death

i have been searching here for this but have yet to find what , i found on this truck.
1994.5 f250 7.3 4x i bought this truck new , it now has 357k all stock.

i was towing "heavy" and started to get a wobble in steering wheel , i ignored it as bad road , tires etc. well it suddenly got so bad it felt like the truck was coming apart , hit the brakes - got worse - so i slowed and got stopped .
crawled under expecting to find a bad tie rod , anything , no signs of any ware .
so i drive off , its fine a little shake , i hit I-40 and , it happens again.
pull over , i find the rivets to the front axle are broken off , " it is the floating " axle.
so i beat them out and put in bolts i had in tool box , its fine , goes about 30k and its back , the bolts are broke and gone , so i put grade 8 in and they break in 500 miles , i now have grade 5's in there now .
anyone have this problem ? and what is the fix ,

Are you talking about the rivets that hold the leaf spring hangers to the frame?

no they are what would be like the A frame , but carry the front differential and axle's ,
i believe they discontinued this floating design in 96 , I just keep putting bolts in , when it starts to shake , and would like to do a perminant fix ,, i have thought about welding it but......

maybe you can mount a gopro to frame and watch where it is vibrating or have some one film in front of you

I'm having a hard time picturing where these rivets are... are you talking aboutthe crossmember holding the TTB axle? Grade 8 are useful in tension, not in shear as they are more brittle. Grade 5 and weld them.

yep thats it and the u shape part of the outer houseing was riveted

i do believe that if i could get on a level surface and put all new bolts in , then weld , it may do the trick , has anyone else had this problem ? if so what was your perm. fix ?

"level surface " i have no access to a garage floor or driveway i suppose i could get on the backhoe and make a level spot ..
