The header wrap was supposed to be a maroon color to match my truck so I'm kinda bummed. Hopefully it'll darken up with dirt. Oh well, for $16 I can get black and redo it in the future. It looks better in person.

Why did you put that wrap there?

looks good.. I'm doing the same as you. what boots are needed from the spider to the bellows? is it something from a 2001? or listed under custom parts? also did you weld up the holes in the spider? one had a intake sensor for ?? temps or something and also 2 holes for pressure lines. I don't seem to have any room where they will fit so i had to remove them. I was hoping to put a water injection jet in the one hole but I will have to just tap the jet into the spider in another spot.. I have been thinking on the wrap too. I wonder if it holds heat in like it was designed to do? with moving air in the compartment would keep the pipes cool. wrapping them would hold more head in the metal. Well that is my thinking . it looks great either way.

Thanks. My thoughts on wrapping them were to keep the engine bay heat off of the pipes and heat soaking them. Everyone has their own opinion on if it works. For $16, I'll give it a try.

I had to remove the sensor and the two nipples. I had my friend tap them and put threaded plugs into them as the fuel bowl is right in front of it.

That Vegas heat is no joke. I've owned this truck for over year now and this was my first real road trip in it. It did better than I expected although my fuel switch died in Green River, Utah and left us stranded for 5 hrs and the wife was bitching for the next 12hrs cause I have as much money in this old truck as I would have in a '08+ 6.4L. Only parts store was closed so my friend had to come from Salt Lake with new part.

The 35's help keep the revs down on the hwy, it's got 4:10's. I kept it at 80-87mph the whole trip. EGT's got pretty hot on some of those hill climbs. No more than 1200 max. I had the chip off on most of those hills. My dads '02 does much better with his small tires and ZF-6 for the win.

My lumbar bag leaked air which sucked for the old back. PS side door lock actuator died. Cruise control is real jerky at 85, has anyone experienced that? Worse with the chip on. I had the wife drive for 150 miles and she was sketched out to go over 75, haha. With 310k on the D60, I need to rebuild it. These old trucks are a handful, but I still wouldn't trade it for a newer one.
