My OBS 7.3L SD Intercooler Install

Hey guys, after collecting parts for about a year I finally started on my IC project. Everything good so far. Just wondering where everyone relocates the cooler mounted to the hood latch support to?

I got an ebay ricer aluminum intercooler pipe kit for $100. I'm going to mock up the pipes and have my friend tig them for me. I got a early 99 spider and riffraff boots all around. Can't wait for some lower EGT's and hopefully less highway heat soak.

Most of us upgrade the tranny cooler at the same time, you can go with a 6.0 transcooler, a tru-cool trans cooler or even a SD 99-03 transcooler for the mean time, better than the sorry excuse of cooler.

Thanks. I got the IC pipes mocked up today. Although I don't really need to; I'm going to do hump hoses on both sides of the spider to compensate for the odd angles. Fortunately siliconeintakes.com is in my city, so I'll go there tomorrow and pick up the stuff. The driver side is just two pipes, one 45* and one 60*. The passenger side is a tight 90* at IC then 90* then a 60* at the spider. Plently of clearance for dipstick and oil fill with a funnel. I'll get the pipes to my friend to tig up so I'll only have silicone 4 joints.

I wanna do the super duty plastic cover over the fuel filter since the stock isn't going to work anymore.

I sort of wish I had gone this route. I paid $900 for an entire kit. Its a nice kit, but this looks much nicer in fit/finish. Nice job!

I've tried that kit before. The 90* boots pop around 15-20 psi. Pipes blow apart. It was a complete pain in the ***
