Front fuel tank

Hey folks its been awhile since i was last on. So here is my problem, my front tank appears to have a problem with the fuel gauge sending unit, sometimes it appears normal other times it peg out past full. so I dont exactly know how much fuel I have in that tank, if i run it dry and swap to the back tank will I have any problems? I have heard not to run out of diesel. BTW this is a 1996 F-250 7.3 PowerStroke.

Thanks for reading.

Likely need to replace the sending unit and drop the tank. That being said you can figure 200-220 miles out of the 15 gallon tank is reasonable at a decent mileage, Fill it up run 200 miles and switch, if your towing switch at 130-150 depending on what you are towing...

You are correct, running it dry is not good for your injectors....

Never let it run dry, its a good way to mess up injectors, is your truck a long bed or short bed? This will determine how much fuel fits the tank.
