3 speed manual input shafts

I have a 3 speed on the column 3 speed in my 65 F100 with a 352 FE. The truck was originally a 300 six cylinder truck and I love that motor. I can get a good running 300 for $300-$400 here. I know this swap is counter intuitive to many but I'd prefer to have the 300 than do the rear seal, head gaskets, etc, to my 352 to have it running right--that and I just really like the 300.

I know my engine perches will work with new motor mounts. My question is will my current transmission work with a 300/SBF bellhousing and the 300 clutch assembly? Will the transmission even bolt up to a different bellhousing? Is the transmission to bellhousing face/bolt pattern interchangable with other bellhousings or are they transmission specific?

I tried searching and didn't come up with an answer about whether the shaft on the 3 speed behind the 352 would jive with the 300/SBF.

If it won't play nice with the 300 then my answer is there: do the head gaskets and seals on the 352.

Thank you in advance and I apologize if this has been asked and answered many times over...I did spend 20 minutes searching before I asked, but maybe my search skills are weak.

I've continued my search on this topic and there isn't a lot mentioned about the 3.03 3 speeds out there but there is a ton info about the 3.03 4 speeds. My guess is that much of this info translates over:

It looks like there were two different input shaft diameters, 1 1/16" and 1 3/8", the larger one starting in 1969. They were both 10 spline. It doesn't appear that the diameter of spline count was dependent on the engine, moreso the year. I haven't found if there were different lengths yet by engine.

Also, it looks like there were two different bellhousing bolt patterns on the front of the transmissions: the butterfly on and an earlier narrow one.

Here are my sources:

Ford Transmissions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_T...r_transmission

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the correct transmission pattern on the bellhousing it should swap over regardless of the input shaft diameter as long as the correct clutch is used? The shaft length is the wild card that I'm still searching for.

No such thing as a 3.03 4 speed.
1965 was the first year the FE engine (352) was installed in F100/350. 352 was dropped after 1967, replaced by the 360 & 390 which were used thru 1976.

There are two different FE truck bell housings, but one was only used on: 1965 F100/250 352 4WD; 1965/66 F350 352; 1966 F250 352 4WD / Marked: C5TA-7505-C

The other was used on: 1965/66 F100/250 352 2WD; 1966 F100 352 4WD; 1967 F100/350 352; 1968/76 F100/350 360/390 / Marked: C5TA-7505-B

Input shaft is basic number 7017

Here are the 7 different input shafts listed for 1964/72 F100/250 and Econoline with 3.03 trans.

1965 F100 352 3.03 3 speed: TRANS #C5TZ-7003-D (114" wheelbase) or C5TZ-7003-E (129" wheelbase) = Parts list 1D = C5TZ-7017-A
