Well there you go, trying to ask intelligent questions!

I dunno. Maybe the beancounters started to prevail. I got nothin'.

My guess is that they are much closer to the block, and out of the direct path of the fan. Also, they are much farther away from the carb in case there were vapor lock issues, but they had those anyway as I recall. Used to put wooden clothespins on the fuel line to fix that.

I always assumed the heat shield was to keep the intake warm. 6's need all the help they can get in winter with their long manifolds. Even in summer the end cylinders run leaner.

Makes ya wonder why so many of them are missing nowadays.

So digging through the parts where i recall the linkage to be hiding and I guess this is all I have, thought i had more parts than this?

Looks like ive got the longer throttle shaft #9747.
Linkage. #9724
Spring # 9624
And the throttle or ?? # 9805

And the heat shield. All will fit in large usps box.

Posted more pics of my engine, carb, etc

I took some more pictures of my carb and engine since people said they needed a few more complete pictures.

Any thoughts on these? Any concerns? Also, if you look at the engine block there is a bolt missing from the block closest to the cab. What should be there?

And if I could find a heat shield, would I have to drill holes into the engine block to attach it?

Whatever you do don't drill holes in the block. Lower eye on shield goes on top motor mount stud and upper bracket attaches to the corner of the head with a threaded hole already.

It looks like you have the throttle brackets or at least parts of it?
The missing bolt on the rear corner of head might be for a ground strap??

Did you get my last message? You can have the heat shield for the cost of shipping. Send me your info agian via another pm or at my email. Jf madsen at yahoo.com

What I see he needs most for throttle linkage is the correct bellcrank on the firewall so it pulls correctly.

The heat shield will attach with existing bolts/studs. When you see it, it will become apparent.

The missing bolt on the head is where the battery positive cable attaches for ground on a stock 6 volt positive ground system. Or, if you've converted to 12 volts, that's where the negative battery cable would attach.

something I noticed and it's the same on my 226 H is that the intake carburetor mount is tilted towards the float bowl. I've been rebuilding mine and it definitely has a lean and it's cast that way. Just wondered why and if that was the same for all of them? Makes the carb look tilted even though it's installed correctly

The entire engine/trans is tilted 3 - 4 degrees to the rear. The angle on the carb should make it level at the float bowl.

Thanks for that bit of info. I guess I'm not used to seeing them on an engine stand but that sure does make sense.
