Exclamation 66 F250 Bench Seat

Looking for an original style bench seat for my 1966 F250 Flare Side. It was a government purchase and originally used by the forestry service as a fire vehicle. Any pointers would be very helpful!

Thanks!

1st of all, you need to tell us where the heck you are in the big ol world, for your wanting.

2ns AFAIK ALL of the Slicks used the same seat other than the Ranger package that had buckets. No special seat for your package.

I maintain there are two different seats: standard and custom cab, with each having unique foam, cover and frame. I can't prove this. I believe this changed around '67.

This is a pic of a '65 - '66 Standard Cab Seat from a Canadian truck, I don't believe it would be different from a US Ford.

I have the US "1965-66 FORD F-100 / F-250 Illustrated Facts and Feature Manual" and this seat is described as having, "...Formed wire springs with cotton and foam padding..." The cutaway view shows maybe 1-2 inches of foam.

This is a seat from a '66 Mercury M100 / Ford F100 , the seat springs are lower to allow for the thicker foam padding.

This seat is described as having a "...full-width plastic foam seat cushion, five inches thick...". The cutaway view shows much more foam than found on the Standard Cab seat.

The manual also notes in the Standard Cab and Custom Cab section that a "Heavy-duty black vinyl seat trim provides extra durability and is available as an option for all full width seats."

I found a nice "base" bench in black vinyl. It was the rear seat in a '68-ish crew cab. The owner had discarded it in favour of red velour seats from a GM truck. You might get lucky and find a dunce like I did.

Found someone selling a seat and am off to pick it up tomorrow. Huzzah! It's not in perfect shape and the color is wrong, but that can all be fixed.

I was beginning to give up hope that Craigslist would serve useful in finding proper vintage parts for my 66 F250 but Eureka!

Here are a couple of pics of the $50 seat I picked up to be used to replace the Isuzu bench that someone installed in the past.

I wish it was more in line with the Red that I truly need but...<br/>

Nice find there. SMS Auto Fabrics should have the right fabric and colour, if you decide to restore the seat.

I definitely want to restore it eventually, but not to Red. But I'd love to have the logo. Thx for the reference.

Now I am on the hunt for a patch of the gear and bolt for a hat

Oh... In that I do plan to strip it down, if someone wants that panel with the logo I am more than happy to send it to them when I do. Let me know. I hear of people patching them into they seats, and that center panel is in pretty good shape
