The compressor comes on and the air output is cold. Is that ok that I only put in 75% or is that too low and will that create any problems?
Did you remove all the oil from the compressor and recharge it with the correct POE/PAG oil?

If not, your compressor will fail shortly. Compressors send their lube oil out the discharge port and rely on the refrigerant to carry back into the suction port. R12 mineral oil does not go into suspension with R134a, so all the oil just pools in the system and the compressor will starve for oil.

Yes, out of caution I dumped it and filled it with the correct oil and the correct quantity but it was already converted by the previous owner

The only problem with the system was that someone bent the schrader valve and all the refrigerant leaked out.

I'm a HVAC tech, and to be totally honest, you probably should change the filter dryer and oil, then evacuat the system, then the 134 can be dumped in, also if you know anyone who does HVAC, I once had a van that I filled with R-22, without doing anything, and it froze my butt off

Uh, sorry, even if you are an HVAC tech, but that's not sound advice. A little car compressor, especially one not meant for the high head pressure of r22 won't stand up over time. Especially if the car feels the summer heat, and has to sit at idle over any given length of time.

Not saying that it's a good idea, however I drove the van pretty much daily as it was a work truck
