Ford guys, I'm having some AC problems and I'm hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction. My compressor went out and I replaced it. I recharged it and noticed a leak coming out of my condensor. I replaced the condensor and recharged the system using a kit I purchased at Autozone. Just when I thought I had some AC, I realized the system isn't cooling down. Any of you guys have any ideas why the AC might not be cooling down? This is a 01 Ford F250 Power Stroke.
i hate ford a/c. I have found that the only way to get them right is to replace everything. when mine went out, I took it to the stealership. i got out of it for $900 for a complete new system w/ 1 year 12k warranty.
nmfordguy, did you change the dryer? every time you open your system it is a good idea to change both the dryer and orifice tube. If the tube is plugged the system will not cool, and if the dryer is not working right it will not cool.
I placed the gauge back on and it stated there was 45lbs of r134 still in the system after my recharge.

On top of other problems you may have, 45 psi with the a/c off is not nearly enough system pressure. If this reading was taken with the a/c on and the truck idling, you may have a blockage.
As others stated, I hope you pulled a good vacuum on the system before recharging and that you replaced the filter dryer as well.
When compressors go out you really need to dismantle the system and flush the whole thing. The amount of trash that gets pushed through the system while the compressor is on it's way out is incredible. This can cause repeat system blockages and can get to be very annoying.
Guys, before I swapped out the condensor, I verified that the system was empty. Is this what you guys are talking about??
NMFORDGUY
Nope.
After repairing the system you must hook a vacuum pump to it and let it pull a vacuum for a good while (at least 1 hour). You should then shut off the vacuum pump and let it sit with just the guages on it. It should hold the same vacuum for at least 15 minutes. If it fails to pull and hold vacuum, you know you have a leak. Pulling a vacuum on it also removes the moisture from the system that is introduced due to the humididty in the air. Water is very very bad in side of an a/c system.
Some tool and equipment rental places will rent them to you. If you want to purchase one, they can be had at Grainger or Northern. You will also need to purchase or rent the appropriate fittings to hook the pump to your a/c guages.
